| Hartzell AD Notes AD 97-18-02 - Remember those of you that have clamp style propellers this AD Note is reocurring and needs to be done every 250 or 500 hrs depending upon your model. AD 2001-23-08- Now you are paying for your high horsepower aircraft or aerobatic aircraft Hartzell is giving you 1/2 on your replacement hub for a limited time. Keep in mind 1/2 off of the hub still will leave you owing about 1500-1800 for the Hub alone. This same basic AD Note was written for certain 3 bladed propellers, now high horse 2 bladed propellers and will bet you will pertain to all hubs soon. Out with the old in with the new makes liabitly insurance go way down for Hartzell. AD 2002-09-08 - This AD Note is hard to understand but basically if you have had the blades compression rolled by a FAA repair Station since 1990 you should be in compliance. The AD Note is asking for a 77-12-06R2 but R2 to my knowledge only changed the compliance time and not the operation so a lot of shops me included left the R2 off when we wrote out the maintenance tag. Most shops if needed are just filling out a correct tag with the R2. AD 2003-01-03 - This AD Note basically is saying that if you had a Hub replaced under a earlier AD Note we found out be manufactured some of them wrong so now bring them back and we will supply you with another Hub. It does not apply to many propellers and is done by Serial No. McCauley AD Notes AD 97-06-16 - Cessna 152 propellers still having Hub Cracking, I am not sure why McCauley continues to make this same style propeller gull wing only one like it for this aircraft. We are still doing lots of inspections and finding cracks and probably will until all of them have been retired. S/B-230-240 for Oil Fill of 182 propellers. McCauley Cessna 180-182 aircraft origionally came out with AD 91-15-04 which took in propellers that needed Oil fill of the Ferrel Style Propeller. Then people upgraded to the new compact propeller thinking this would solve the red oil fill problem. Well, suprise but know all of the 180-182 compact propellers now have to be oil filled at overhaul also at a extra expense to the owner so it really did not pay to upgrade for most of you I am afraid. STC Propellers Never has it been easier to get a 3 bladed propeller at a reasonable price. McCauley and Hartzell Both have dozens of different STC for putting a 3 bladed propeller on pretty much everthing. Yes the STC price will cost you around 7900.00 on the average but that 2 bladed propeller that you have had since the 60's is about that much now for replacement new. |
